Executive Director:
Terence Foster
One of the co-founders of Educational Programmes Abroad in 1972, Terence
is a graduate of the London School of Economics and Sussex University. He
was responsible for setting up the very first internship program for US
students in the UK in 1975. Terence has overseen the expansion of EPA into
other European centers, and is more convinced than ever of the importance
of helping US students gain international experience.
Deputy Executive Director
David James is the Deputy Executive
Director of EPA Ltd. David is
a graduate of SUNY and gained his Ph.D. at Harvard in Clinical Psychology and
Public Practice. Based now in London, he brings to EPA a wealth of
experience gained teaching university courses in the USA and UK, administeringgraduate
programs overseas for American universities and working professionally
in the British National Health Service and in US Government departments. In
addition he has wide experience in setting up and administering internship programs.
US Program Coordinator
Lisa Frauens is the US Program Coordinator
and acts as a liaison between the students and schools in the USA and the
Program Directors in Europe. Lisa
lived in Germany from 2000 to 2003 and studied in France and England as a college
student. She values the richness of experiencing life in another
culture and is pleased to be helping others as they embark on their own international
experience. Lisa earned her undergraduate degree at the University
of Illinois and her Master’s Degree at the St. Louis Conservatory
of Music.
Chinese Programs Coordinator
Xiaojun Charles Zhao is the Chinese Program
Coordinator and acts as a liaison between the students and universities in
China and the Program Directors in Europe. Charles gained his
BA from Fudan University, China and
followed this with a Masters from the University of Heidelberg, Germany. Charles
has worked as an interpreter and translator with the Central Translation
Bureau in Beijing, was a faculty member at the Chinese Academy of Social
Sciences, also in Beijing, and worked with Long Island University’s
Friends World Program in London, where he now permanently resides.
London Program Director:
Andrea Morris
Ensuring the smooth running of EPA's London program is Andrea Morris.
Andrea is from South Africa, where she studied Social Science at the University
of Cape Town. Afterwards, she came to London for her post-graduate
studies and since then has held a number of positions, both in teaching and
educational administration.
She is very experienced in working with US study abroad programs and is well
placed to help students gain the maximum benefit from their internship experience.
German Programs Director:
Hartwig Prüßmann
Hartwig has worked with EPA for almost 20 years. He has also served as director
of several other US study abroad programs in Germany, and the US State Department
recently recognized Hartwig for his outstanding support of German-American youth
exchange programs. As EPA’s German Programs Director, Hartwig manages our
busy internship programs in Bonn, Cologne and Berlin. Hartwig holds a Master’s
degree from Washington University in St Louis.
Edinburgh Program Director:
Jenny Mann
Jenny fully understands the difficulties of a cross-cultural experience, having spent her early years living in Ethiopia. Subsequently, she has studied and worked to help people feel at home in her own country, Scotland. She studied European languages at University in Glasgow, went on to work for a language school and then set up and ran her own school. For the past 7 years, she has worked as a fully qualified Blue Badge Guide and became assistant Program Director for EPA in Edinburgh for a number of years before taking over as Program Director.
Brussels Program Director:
Carolyn Collignon
Carolyn graduated in psychology at Wellesley College and followed this with
a Masters in clinical psychology from the Universite Libre de Bruxelles.
While
studying in Brussels, Carolyn undertook an internship and then worked professionally
in the city for a number of years.
Married to
a Belgian, and very firmly settled in Brussels, Carolyn will bring to the
position the right kind of experience to help EPA students get the most out
of their time in the ‘Capital’ of
Europe.
Madrid Program Director:
Rocio Bartolome Rodriguez
Rocio graduated from the Universidad Complutense, Madrid, having spent one year at the University of Nottingham-Trent as an Erasmus student. She has taught at the University of Salamaca and at James Madison University, Virginia. She brings to the Madrid program experience and understanding of what is needed to help US students get the most from the internship and study at a foreign university.
