Bonn: Classical City with a Big Heart

The small university city of Bonn is rich in culture and history. Its most famous son is Ludwig van Beethoven, and evidence of the city’s 17th and 18th century heritage is everywhere. Cologne, Germany’s fourth largest city, is just a short tram ride away.

All EPA students interning in Germany begin their stay in Bonn where our administrative offices are located and where orientation takes place.

Cologne: From Carnival to High Culture

Cologne (Köln) is one of Germany’s most original cities, with its own dialect, its own style of beer-brewing and a big Carnival tradition that goes back 2000 years. If you’re there in February, you’ll see what we mean!

With its setting on the Rhine in western Germany, Cologne is world-famous for its twin-spired cathedral and, of course, Eau de Cologne. Known as a center for art and music, Cologne has over a hundred and thirty art museums and galleries and is the venue for many international concerts throughout the year.
